One Bottle. Zero Cameras.
We built this whiskey CGI visualization as preparation for an online course — designed for 3D designers who want to master product lighting in CG. For EDEN Whiskey, we relied exclusively on our Advanced Light Maps: our in-house lighting system, and the only tool we needed. We also shared behind-the-scenes material to show exactly how the setup works, step by step.
Lighting a Whiskey CGI Visualization from Scratch
Transparent objects are among the most challenging subjects in 3D. Bottles, spirits, water, and perfumes all refract, shift, and compete for attention in a single frame. However, we have spent years refining our approach to liquid and glass, and every surface now reacts exactly as we intend. We place each light source deliberately — because even one misplaced reflection can break the illusion of photorealism. Additionally, we use our Advanced Light Maps to craft the precise bokeh and depth-of-field that define a strong hero shot. Furthermore, the behind-the-scenes content for this project shows how we built the lighting from scratch, layer by layer. The EDEN Whiskey visuals prove that our skills keep evolving — and we are far from reaching the end of our learning curve.
Why Spirits Brands Choose Whiskey CGI Visualization
CGI gives spirits brands complete control over light, angle, surface, and mood. Traditional product photography, however, can’t match that level of precision for glass and liquid subjects. Consequently, more brands choose 3D rendering instead of a photo shoot when the product demands perfection. For example, our deep-dive on photorealistic beer condensation in 3D shows how far CGI can push beverage realism — even at the microscopic level. While photography depends on physical conditions, CGI lets us iterate endlessly without a reshoot.
More Spirits & Beverage CGI Work
We’ve rendered spirits across the board. Our Cognac CGI Photography and CG Vodka on the Rocks explore similar lighting challenges from different angles — each one pushing our craft a step further.
