Massive medieval-style composite with video

An epic composite with over 560 layers — ‘Winter Mountain Castle’ — with speed-art video.

A nice christmas season with epic matte painting action.

Nothing is as liberating and satisfying as the art that emerges from a single small spark of inspiration without the pressure of a deadline or the expectations of a client — not that we have anything against our clients — quite the opposite. But sometimes it just feels good to let creativity run free and bring a composite to life that is based solely on artistic impressions and purely creative design decisions. This composite, with over 560 Photoshop layers, is one of the larger image compositions I (Rüdiger Lauktien) have realized so far, and it fills me with childlike joy to see the final result.

The speed art video (in English) tells of the many hours of creation and the various challenges along the way to the goal.
